This week, I don't really feel like I've won any parenting awards. Although, if you want to give me a shiny trophy and the grand prize winnings, who would I be to turn them down? Anyway, this week has been a really stellar week for my parenting skills. Currenty, my house is a mess, I have tons of laundry to do, and we've been so busy I feel like I've barely spoke two complete sentences to Chris. But, it's been a fun week, filled with fun surprises (my friend Alisa is pregnant) and not fun surprises (my friend Emily is almost a WEEK overdue with her third child). But I digress, back to my lack of parenting skills. This week we introduced Sydney to poker. Can't you just picture her with her little blond ponytails, cards in hand, placing her bets? Just kidding, but we did go to a poker party. For Abbie's birthday, she had a poker party and we went. Sydney was rockin in her Roxy outfit because she's cool like that. She did seem to really like the game, though, and she stole the dealer chip and carried around with her all week.

This week I also listened to my Amy Winehouse music in front of Sydney. Isn't that bad? I should be teaching her that people who do crack are bad, but what can I say, I love her music? And Sydney totally dances her little heart out to it, which is just too cute for words. I also failed in my parenting tonight when I made us all dirt-n-worms. In case you're unfamiliar with this delicacy, you mix crushed up Oreos into chocolate pudding and pour it on top of gummy worms. It just sounded good for some reason, so I made some tonight. I didn't even make real pudding, like my mom always did when I was kid. I was all over the out of the box into the bowl type. I did decide to strip down Sydney and let her have at it. Chris thought I was nuts to let her make that kind of mess, but even he got into it. It was so funny, and she had such a great time!
She wasn't really sure what it was...
...so she thought she'd try a spoon...
...then she had to feel the texture...
...maybe it's finger paint...
...maybe it's hand lotion...
...or hair gel like mommy uses?...
...maybe it's cereal...
...whatever it is, it's fun!!
The aerial view of the fantastic mess she made. We had so much fun!!
When I look at that last picture of how happy she looks, I feel like the best mom in the world. I know I say it all the time, but it is so true that she is such an amazing blessing to us. Even if she grows up to be an Amy Winehouse groupie who plays poker for a living and eats nothing but pudding, I'll still love her and be proud of my daughter, and at least I'll know where she gets it.
