UofO Graduation Party

My sister Abbie graduated last week and my mom and I decided to throw her a graduation party.  (As if I need an excuse to throw a party, right?)  We did a green and yellow University of Oregon themed party and it was a great success.  We borrowed this giant inflatable duck, as pictured above, and it was a great way to simultaneously embarrass my sister and welcome everyone to the party.

We did a combination of decorations that we (my mom and I) made, as well as some from Melissa's store. I always think the banner and centerpieces add just the right touch to a party.

We did a centerpiece trio to commemorate Abbie's involvement with the OMB, Oregon Marching Band.  My mom also made this awesome UofO felt banner with all the patches Abbie collected from all her travels across the country.  Her time with the band allowed to go on many trips and have some amazing experiences.  The felt banner also served as the card holder.

For the food we tried to go with mostly green and yellow munchies.  We tried to stay away from orange as much as possible, with the exception of carrots.  My mom made this table runner and I can't wait to steal borrow it this fall during football season.

Last year they closed the Craft Warehouse in town (despite much pleading on my part).  They were the best place for party making supplies.  There is one an hour away and we went there to pick up these glass blocks, striped fabric, and vinyl letters for some pretty and simple side table decorations.  Again, the beauty of these things is that we can use them this fall when we have watch football and have people over for games.

We also used large vases filled with lemons and limes for decorations, as well as a candy jar table filled with green and yellow candies.

The duck outside was a huge source of entertainment for the kids.  All five my kids and Melissa's kids willingly stood for this picture, all of them smiling and looking at the camera at the same time.  Nothing short of a miracle!

Abbie has been accepted to two law schools for the fall.  For now, we're just glad to have her home for the summer, especially her nieces!
