(Give me a minute to sit down and cry about this because I still think of them as little tiny babies who need me. Having twins is tough and I went over often to help hold and feed babies. Mostly Micah, he was the fussiest and always needed a good snug, but Mason was happy to have a Dara snug, too.)
They are turning 4 and having a super hero party which is adorable and perfect for them. As you can see from their photo, and please ignore the awful beaver shirt on Mason, they love super heroes. I decided I wanted to get them super hero presents and oh my goodness, what a life altering experience that was. Here is what I got:

Savannah and I wandered around Target for an hour and again for about 20 minutes today, looking for boy things. It's like a foreign language, man. And you know how kids don't like to sit in a cart for an hour and wander aimlessly around a store? Savannah didn't even make a peep because she was too busy staring at all the boy toys that are mostly in a color that is completely foreign in our house: blue. Here is what I learned/observed from our shopping trips:
1. There are multiple "groups" of super heroes. There are the Avengers, which have Captain America, Hulk, and some other guys I have never heard of. There is also the Justice League of America, which has Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, and some other guys I've never heard of including one called Flash (now why would you name a kids super hero "Flash?" All I can picture is some creeper in a trench coat, am I right?). Then there are other popular super heroes, like Spiderman, but I don't know if he belongs in a group or if he's on his own. Maybe it's the spider thing. People don't like spiders so maybe they won't let him in their group.
2. I'm pretty sure I violated the boy code by combining groups into presents. For Micah, he's getting a Superman doll (Justice League) and Avengers tableware. Mason is getting a Green Lantern doll (also Justice League) and Spiderman tableware. Mixing and matching the different groups is probably not allowed but I'm claiming "Mommy-of-girls-only" ignorance and doing it anyway.
3. I'm pretty sure boys dolls aren't called "dolls". I think I remember Melissa calling them "action figures." Much more manly.
4. Spiderman and The Avengers are both made by Marvel. That's even more mean that they won't let Spiderman in their group since they're like brothers.
5. I don't know where Transformers fit in but I know the boys love them, too. It was much easier to shop for the boys when they were little and into Toy Story. Toy Story I can get behind. I know the characters, the plot lines, the bonus features on the DVD, but super heroes? No idea.

Thank you for putting so much thought into the boy's gifts and going outside of your pink comfort zone. This post cracked me up. :)
Hee, hee! You're funny! I don't know much about all the super heros either since W hasn't ever really gotten in to them. Makes me wonder if C will like them or not. That was funny to read about Savannah's reaction to the shopping for boys :-)
