Guest Blogger-Mary

I have decided to once again feature some of my friends and fellow bloggers. It's so fun to get to know these people in different ways. Today's guest blogger is my friend Mary Campos. Mary and I met at George Fox in 1999. We lived next door to each other for two years in the dorms. Mary and her roommate, Jessica, and me and my roommate, Briana, were really good friends and spent most of our time together for those two years before I transfered to nursing school. Of the four of us, Mary and I have stayed the most in contact. She only lives an hour away from me, but the last time I saw her was at her wedding, the summer I was pregnant with Sydney. She is super crafty, which is really fun. Part of her house burned down over a year ago when she was pregnant and she lost a bunch of her handmade crafts. You can see her blog here. You can see the pictures of her post-fire remodeled house and click on links to see the devastation from the fire here. When you click the links on her post to see the fire damage, remember that she was pregnant, and two months away from giving birth, when that happened. They had to live in a hotel for the first few months of her son's life. On the plus side, though, hotels have maid service and how nice would that be with a newborn?!

Name, introduction to who you are.
My name is Mary and I am a married mommy of one little boy who is about to turn one. I am currently a stay at home mom and love it, there is nothing more fulfilling to me than being a mommy and wife.

What is your favorite craft project that you have made?
That is so hard to just pick one! The first one that comes to mind though is the baby quilt I made for my son. Seeing that quilt will always bring back those memories of preparing for his arrival and the joy and excitement I felt. Then finally being able to wrap him in that blanket, surrounding him with love that I had stitched together. I hope that his quilt will always hold great memories for him also.
**Check out Mary's Halloween crafts that she made on her blog!**

What's a craft that you are currently making or planning on making soon?
With the holidays here I am in full holiday mode. I am never just doing one project at a time, I always have multiple projects going. I am finishing cross-stitching my sons Christmas stocking, I will be making matching Christmas pajamas for my boys to be opened on Christmas Eve, I am making a new Christmas tree skirt and I am putting all the finishing touches on the decorations for my sons birthday party.

How did you meet your husband?
We were introduced by a mutual friend at a bar on karaoke night. The only reason that she thought we should meet was because we are both super tall. After leaving that night we went to Shari's and talked until 5:30 and found that we have a lot more in common than just being tall!

How did you come up with your baby's name?
My husband actually came up with it. He heard it at work one day and decided that he really liked it. It sounded good with his already chosen middle name of Edward, my dads middle name. We had a couple other semi-contenders but Damian Edward just felt right.

What is your first memory of me? (I'll be putting in my first memory of you, too)
The year is 1999. The place is 3rd floor UHall on the GFU campus in Newberg. Everyone on our floor had gathered in the RA's room for introductions. After the introductions we all headed to have dinner together. I am pretty sure the four of us roomies all ate together that night. I just remember you being this fun vibrant person that I was drawn to, there was something about you that I could connect with-I always knew that you would get it! We soon bonded over Gone with the Wind, stealing our roomies towels, late night chats and nachos. I learned to love country music because of you, especially Tim McGraw!
**I remember going into Mary's dorm room right after we moved in. She had a HUGE poster of John Travolta hanging up above her computer. She had a big crush on him! I have never met anyone, my generation or older, who was in love with John Travolta! I was quite obsessed with Tim McGraw at the time, so we had some good times bonding over celebrity crushes. Mary and I also got into some trouble (good, clean, wholesome trouble, of course, the only kind they have at conservative George Fox). I remember a trip to a park in the dead of night with some cigars! Ha! So gross. And in another post, I'll tell you how we got my roommate with the best ever practical joke)!**
Favorite coffee drink?
I love seasonal drinks. Right now I am switching from pumpkin spice lattes to peppermint mochas and egg nog lattes.
**Mary, you should try the white chocolate peppermint mocha. Oh, my, it's heaven.**
