I remember my high school economics teacher used to call November, "No-school November." It's kind of true. When you factor in conferences, Veteran's Day, and Thanksgiving break, November is lacking in school days. Especially for one three year old and her mama who have come to depend on those school days. Anyway, yesterday Sydney didn't have school and it was a long day for both of us. To keep Sydney occupied, we played a lot of dress-up, this being my favorite outfit.
I was getting a bit desperate to get some housework done, including unloading the dishwasher. She is a very good helper, but there were an unusually high number of knives and sharp things today, so she couldn't really help me. I let her unload her bowls and utensils, and then remembered a favorite past-time of mine when I was little...
There is nothing like a sink full of warm, soapy water and some plastic dishes to keep a girl entertainted! She played in that sink for a good 30 minutes, long enough for me to unload that dishwasher, fold a load of laundry, and feed the baby. Thank goodness school is back to normal next week!

Hot soapy water and plastic dishes is a great idea! I'll have to remember that! I love combining chores with quality time with my girl. :)
