Party decorations are such a fun way to bring lots of color into your party. I always look for every possible way to bring incorporate the theme of the party, in this case birds, and the colors, into the decorations. I used the same decorations at both parties, but for this post I'm using mostly pictures from the second party. I used my camera at the first one, but Melissa brought her fancy schmancy camera to the second one and the quality of the pictures is much better.
Here is the "Happy Birthday" banner over the table at the first party. Again, this is a picture I took and the lighting is terrible. I do like how this banner fits perfectly in that window and really frames in the food table.
Here is a picture of the same banner, taken with Melissa's camera. Much better.
What is the best part about a first birthday? I think it's watching the birthday girl/boy making a mess out of their smash cake! That always seems to be the moment when people take lots of pictures, so why not decorate the high chair, too? Here is a simple bird banner around the edge of the high chair. In my upcoming post on the food there will be pictures of this banner at both parties. For this banner, Melissa printed the birds for me and I put together the banner.
A party sign to welcome people to the party. This hung on my front door for the first party and on the door to the building for the second party. This is one of my favorite things that Melissa makes.
I don't like boring centerpieces. I saw this idea from another customer of Melissa's and had to borrow the idea! I have also been itching to make a pennant banner so I threw one together to add another punch of color.
Here is a close up of that centerpiece. Melissa made the paper part, then I put them in the jelly beans. Another of our friends recently put her centerpiece sticks in a bowl of flowers and it was really cute. Lots of possibilities.
I made a birthday banner for Sydney's first birthday party and loved making one again for Savannah's. This is the only decoration that wasn't at the first party because that party was before her actual birthday, so I didn't have her 12 month picture yet. Even though the rest of the decorations were circular, I went ahead and made this banner in the same paper as the other banners, but in rectangles. It made it so I didn't have to cut the pictures, but I love how it adds another element of shape and color.
This beautiful topiary was Melissa's birthday gift for Savannah. Isn't it amazing? Since I picked a theme and colors based on Savannah's bedding set, this can now sit on Savannah's dresser and it matches perfectly. I love that every time I see it in her room I can think back to her birthday party.
