Well, tomorrow is the big day. This is my last day in my 20's, which is so weird! Day 11 is 11 pipers piping, which represent the 11 faithful apostles. I can't help but look back to where I was on this day when I was about to turn 20. When I was at Fox, there were a bunch of us that all had birthdays in March, and mine was the last one. At the time, I would do homework in the evenings, watch an episode of Friends at 11:00pm, then go to bed. My roommate, Briana, was usually just starting her studying when I was getting ready for bed, but I was used to going to sleep with the light on. So it wasn't at all unusual for me to be going to bed with her still up and awake. On March 11 I went to bed at 11:30 as usual, but just as the clock hit midnight, the door to our dorm room flew open and all the girls on my floor came bursting in with balloons, confetti, and lots of laughter! My roommate had planned a little get together and we had so much fun! If I remember correctly, there was even an Oreo pie from Shari's, which was a huge spurgle in those cash strapped days. The next day at breakfast another friend brought me a GIGANTIC stuffed pink bunny, at least 3 feet tall, with balloons strapped to his big floppy ears. I had to carry that huge bunny, who I named Basil, around all day to all my classes, chapel, and work study. Another friend made me a hat that said, "Welcome to the 20 Club" on it, and made me wear it!
Ah, the good ol' days, right? It was so much fun. I think that my welcome into my 30's will probably be very different. Actually, it better be. If Chris wakes me up at midnight tonight to wish me happy birthday I will not be happy since sleep is a rarity these days! But, Chris will let me sleep in in the morning. And I'll get big, sloppy kisses from my girls. I am looking forward to having a nice, quiet day with my family. So long, 20's, you were awesome and I will miss you, but I welcome the 30's. I can't wait to see the blessings the next decade brings!
