The second day of Christmas is one of my favorites, "two turtle doves." In the song, these turtle doves represent the Old and New Testament. I like that. They just go hand in hand, you can't have one without the other. I recently finished reading the book of Esther, which is my favorite, and am now immersed in Job, which I always find a challenge. But a good challenge. Turtle doves makes me think of the second Home Alone movie. Remember the toy store owner gives Kevin the turtle doves, and Kevin in turn gives one to the homeless lady he befriends? Both of the Home Alone movies are Christmas classics in my house. I like that the turtle doves represent the Bible as well as friendship. I have truly been blessed with some amazing friends! I know I rave about my bestie Melissa often, but she really is awesome! She just totally gets me, you know? I talked yesterday about my movie friend, Heather. We went to nursing school together and I never would have survived without her. I miss my friend Marilyn, who lives in Oklahoma, every day. I wish she would move back! My friend Shelley was just welcomed into the mommy club with the arrival of her twins this last September! We met at orientation for George Fox and instantly were close. My friends Mary, Jessica, and Briana were my life-lines during school! The four of us did everything together at Fox. Many of my co-workers are my friends, especially my pal Amy. My friend Jami is a friend I used to work with on night shift. She's my crafty friend and an animal lover. I belong to a mommy group and all of those ladies are my friends. I am so thankful for my mom's group, they have helped me through many tough times. My book club rocks, too! Some of those girls, like Emily, I have been friends with since childhood. Let's all take a minute to thank God for the friends in our lives!
Isn't this fun, celebrating me and my birthday? I'm loving this!
